Time To Shine Blog Hop

Good Morning and welcome to my blog.  If you have been following the blog hop then you have arrived from Trudy's blog and heading in the right direction...  Isn't her work great!!!
There is a really fun and creative crop going on over at Card Swaps this week. Lots of fun challenges and games. May 16-19, 2012 are the days and you have until May22, 2012 to get your projects posted.  At the end of the hop you will be directed to the crop and I hope to see you there.  We have a fun game for all the hoppers.  All you need to do is hop along and collect the letters.  You will then unscramble them and be entered into the drawing for a prize for one lucky hopper! You will be given details at the bottom of the post. So be sure to keep reading. :)
My time to "Shine" was when I married the love of my life my sweet husband of 32 years.  We have been through rough times, happy times, sad times. and good times, but all in all he makes me shine everyday with his happy disposition and his loving smile and sense of humor.  I do love him so!!!
The blog hop "theme" goes with the crop title of "Time To Shine". We were able to chose what kind of project to make with enthuses on the theme. I chose to make a baby/ first birthday card for a member of our family. This little doll will turn 1 year old soon so I thought this card would make her Shine!!!

I used some sweet new paper from Graphics 45 .  I love the new look of banners so I used some of the paper and cut and layered them.  I die cut the round opening with a circle spellbinders die and added some DP behind to give it some texture, then added this darling little cutie. I used some seam binding tinting it with Spun Sugar Distress inks, and used a stick pin to top it off...  I punched the border with a punch from Fiskars and used the dotted swiss embossing folder from Cuttlebug.
"Unscramble It Game" for hoppers... Details follow... You will be unscrambling a word.  Make sure you collect ALL the letters, the last hostess in the blog hop will direct you to the thread in the forum where you can find all the details you need to enter the drawing. All hoppers collecting all the letters, unscrambling the word or phrase, entering the game by following the directions in the forum, and leaving feedback on EVERY blog they visit WILL be entered in to a random drawing held on May 23, 2012. ONE lucky hopper will have their name drawn and will win a prize!! Fun, right?? So, make sure you visit every blog and find the letters. Your hints are... it’s a phrase, it has four words, and it’s a way you will be able to shine. Your next stop is Angelina's blog.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by...

May is here!!!

I am so glad to get April behind me.  Now we can finally warm up.  I live in a small mining town in the mountains of Utah and we are about 2 weeks behind the valleys spring warm weather.  So I can celebrate warm days to come!!!  Here is a card I created for a challenge or two.  I am in the Spring mood so why not a Spring card???
So here is my first card for May and great weather.  I used some cute summery paper that I found in a small little scrap booking store in Salt Lake.  I tell you these are a dying breed.  They are from Gooseberry Patch (Farmhouse Kitchen) and G C D Studio's ( Picnic Table).  I combined some new stamps that I just bought from Papertrey Ink and Marks Finest Paper. I ran the border through my crimper to give it a gathered look.  I stamped the Rooster and colored and cut it out to place on the twill tape.  I added some sweet strawberries.  I love how this card turned out.  So farm and vintage themed.
Thanks so much for stopping by...

Just a Note

I heard some sad news today on the message board at Card Swaps.  One of our dear members husband has lost his fight with cancer.  My heart and love go out to her and her family.  This is such a hard time.  I made this card with her in mind and I plan on sending it out tomorrow morning.  I hope it will help in some small way.
I am also entering it into this weeks card challenge at Marks Finest Paper.  The challenge is to use stitching or faux stitching.  I chose the latter. My next card is for the Friends of Speedy TV at Marks Finest Paper.  The theme is to use flowers.  I did one in the middle of my card.  Hope this counts.  Both cards have sentiments from some of the stamps from this company that I have recently received.  Love them!!!
Thanks for visiting and come back soon!

My cards

I made these two cards today with 2 new stamp sets I ordered from Marks Finest Paper.  I fell in love with the cute Roasters and all the sentiments.  The other set has the chicken wire and a few more cute sayings.  They both come with a border stamp.  These are really high quality stamps for a great price.

I did the top one for a challenge over at CardMakers.  It is a recipe challenge hosted this week by Linda Jo.  I hope I included all the elements!!!  I also am going to enter this in a challenge over at Speedy TV.  The theme is to make anything this week.  The bottom card is being entered also in a challenge at Speedy TV.  This theme is to make a rainbow card.  Can't get much more of a rainbow look than this!!!  I found this idea for the card on Pinterest.  Got to love that site!!!

A few more cards today!!!

I have a few more cards to share today...  I can't believe that I'm adding again to my blog this week.  I must be on a roll. Ha...

Both of these I did for a crop on Cardmakers Magazines Swap forum crop last month. The top card challenge was to create a chevron stripe.  The bottom one was to create a quilt pattern.  It was a fun crop.
